Freeganism

Freeganism is like veganism, only you can eat dairy products, eggs or meat if they would otherwise go to waste.

Food that is going to be thrown away if you don't eat it is freegan. So is roadkill (unless you deliberately ran it over).

If you think this is a cop out, consider the following:

Buddhists hold all life sacred, but Tibetan buddhists, such as the Dalai Lama interpret this ruling rather loosely. In Tibetan buddhism its OK to eat meat so long as someone else killed the animal.

Like most tibetans, the Dalai Lama is partial to a bit of mutton, accompanied by tea with Yak butter in it. There isn't much else to eat in Tibet.
